She works with oil painting on canvas, drawing, collage and small clay sculpture. Since 2012 Morild´s work has adressed environmental questions. In the works from 2012-2020 she looked at the relationship between the Norwegian oil industry and the Norwegian love of nature. This work was informed by digital maps of oil fields on the Norwegian shelf, and images from the Norwegian landscape as well as oil raffineries. The works from 2020-2021 take the Dutch still-life tradition as a starting point, and using this form to show a landscape in deterioration and decay, yet still alluringly beautiful and colourful. As a counterpoint to a dystopian view of nature, the works from 2022-2026 attempt to look at nature at nature´s own terms. Here the smallest lifeforms like moss and lichen have agency and take on a human scale. These paintings follow the cycles of light and dark of the year, and of day and night. Morild is educated at Central Saint Martin´s College of Art (MA Fine Art 2013) and Chelsea College of Fine Art ( BA Fine Art Painting 2003) and University of Bergen (Cand. Mag. History of literature, History of art, Philosophy of aesthetics, 1998). Marianne Morild lives and works in Norway. She served as Associate Professor of Painting at The Art Academy, University of Bergen 2023-2026. Her work has been shown amongst others at Sogn og Fjordane Kunstmuseum (N), Kunsthall 3,14 (N), Centre Pompidou-Metz (F) and Taiwan Fine Arts Museum (T), and is held in the collection of Sogn og Fjordane Kunstmuseum, Bergen Council and private collections in Europe, USA and South America. https://www.mariannemorild.com/texts daily 0.75 2026-03-22 https://www.mariannemorild.com/available-works-and-contact daily 0.75 2026-10-26 https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/613ddc1e99f1685236290bb4/878a29dc-15e1-42d5-b512-90bf281cb4d4/Dawn+Chorus.jpg https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/613ddc1e99f1685236290bb4/d20a2d91-a402-49d8-984d-ccf7774086a2/Big+Black+Monsoon.jpg https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/613ddc1e99f1685236290bb4/84d8a7d4-98ae-484d-9f48-060a690056a1/Moon+Breath+2MB.jpg https://www.mariannemorild.com/portfolio-4 daily 1.0 2026-10-26 https://www.mariannemorild.com/portfolio-4/works-2025 monthly 0.5 2026-10-26 https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/613ddc1e99f1685236290bb4/8c0680aa-7d7e-4b5d-98a0-daf63c01252c/Ecce+Homo+2+MB.jpg https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/613ddc1e99f1685236290bb4/83bbca2d-eda1-4b45-8c6f-fb03701f21f6/Night+Cradle.jpg https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/613ddc1e99f1685236290bb4/0264678b-be93-4897-b1f5-3886aaa734bf/Crepuscular+Moves.jpg https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/613ddc1e99f1685236290bb4/00f6f50a-3eee-4325-8bde-4d853099dd3b/Tales+of+the+Unxp+2MB.jpg https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/613ddc1e99f1685236290bb4/efec26b4-5d1c-4960-af64-8537f790deed/Garden+of+Miracles+2MB.jpg https://www.mariannemorild.com/portfolio-4/works-2022 monthly 0.5 2026-10-26 https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/613ddc1e99f1685236290bb4/aa3e6178-47c3-4d41-86b8-fbda97bd1519/Night+Sermon+4MB.jpg https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/613ddc1e99f1685236290bb4/878a29dc-15e1-42d5-b512-90bf281cb4d4/Dawn+Chorus.jpg https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/613ddc1e99f1685236290bb4/636e0e5c-eaeb-4a8c-98d4-b462394417df/Uprising+2MB.jpeg https://www.mariannemorild.com/portfolio-4/works-2024 monthly 0.5 2026-10-26 https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/613ddc1e99f1685236290bb4/a3bb068e-cf55-4d7e-84c6-264e4e684705/Journeys+in+and+out+of+night+1MB.jpg https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/613ddc1e99f1685236290bb4/6c686030-941b-4872-b4dd-af619605b4d3/Bone%2BCitadels.jpg https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/613ddc1e99f1685236290bb4/7f310f0c-9e50-4692-b300-53544399913c/My+Neighbour.jpg https://www.mariannemorild.com/portfolio-4/works-2021 monthly 0.5 2026-10-26 https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/613ddc1e99f1685236290bb4/1707138211266-DKH3QG1CSLMMVQL45291/DSC_9669.jpg https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/613ddc1e99f1685236290bb4/e3f09366-5ca2-415a-b260-07b28eaf940b/Cornucopia_2021.jpg https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/613ddc1e99f1685236290bb4/1646126734993-XV55RZRPZ7H7YMNO405R/Jetsam.jpg https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/613ddc1e99f1685236290bb4/907d3e34-03be-4b48-8f21-f13c2973a8cf/Still+Life_200x150cm_oiloncanvas_Morild.jpg https://www.mariannemorild.com/portfolio-4/works-2023 monthly 0.5 2026-10-26 https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/613ddc1e99f1685236290bb4/79e9c6dc-2786-4efb-aa60-7c39e5f06f8a/Yggdrasil4MB.jpg https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/613ddc1e99f1685236290bb4/96e408df-c08b-46a4-b4d4-0f160933b11a/Hand+Rot+Hale+4MB.jpeg https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/613ddc1e99f1685236290bb4/32aa49db-151e-4791-9990-2a10fadc2509/Ground+View+Install.jpeg https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/613ddc1e99f1685236290bb4/1707089881725-TRPKYYGHFE93PANGVERD/Ground+View+7MB.jpeg https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/613ddc1e99f1685236290bb4/4f8264d3-48ea-47da-b76c-35e833bbb145/GroundView+2-1MB.jpg https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/613ddc1e99f1685236290bb4/1698750470395-Y9GZUJYLTXWD86C1W1MA/Tree+Dweller+5MB.jpeg https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/613ddc1e99f1685236290bb4/4406497a-695a-40cd-97ee-26204ca29232/Tree+Dweller+Detalj.jpeg https://www.mariannemorild.com/portfolio-4/works-2026 monthly 0.5 2026-10-26 https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/613ddc1e99f1685236290bb4/1793043732152-MPGO1FGAZ1UAS4DQ6EXF/Vintersolhverv%2Bstor%2B3MB.jpg https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/613ddc1e99f1685236290bb4/4d06e905-f660-4ada-a323-0e9aebfd0f5c/Vigil_2026.jpg https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/613ddc1e99f1685236290bb4/e7a67232-9dce-486f-a028-aa9527584117/No+Walls+2MB.jpg https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/613ddc1e99f1685236290bb4/1793043673413-41WXZGMJ5HM66YEGE6PZ/Vesper.jpg https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/613ddc1e99f1685236290bb4/84d8a7d4-98ae-484d-9f48-060a690056a1/Moon+Breath+2MB.jpg https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/613ddc1e99f1685236290bb4/d20a2d91-a402-49d8-984d-ccf7774086a2/Big+Black+Monsoon.jpg
