Marianne Morild is a Norwegian visual artist.
Marianne Morild´s artistic practise is mainly concerned with painting, where she looks at how our perception of nature - as a paradise, or a place for harvesting resources or as an ecosystem -inform our values and understanding of the world we live in. She is examining the scope of contemporary landscape painting, to find out what meaning it might carry today. The work is a deeply emotional response to what we consider of value on our planet and in our lives, what we decide to explore, preserve, care for or exploit.
Morild holds an MA Fine Art from Central Saint Martin´s College of Art and now lives and works in Norway. She is currently Associate Professor of Painting at The Art Academy, University of Bergen.
Her work has been shown amongst others at Sogn og Fjordane Kunstmuseum (N), Kunsthall 3,14 (N), Centre Pompidou-Metz (F) and Taiwan Fine Arts Museum (T), and is held in the collection of Sogn og Fjordane Kunstmuseum, Bergen Council and private collections.
