Marianne Morild is a Norwegian visual artist.

She works with oil painting on canvas, drawing, collage and small clay sculpture.

Since 2012 Morild´s work has adressed environmental concerns about our relationship to nature.

Her recent works look at nature on nature´s own terms. We come face to face with the smallest lifeforms like moss and lichen . They have agency and take on a human scale. Paintings of forests, mountains and lakes follow the cycles of light and dark of the year, and of day and night and confront us with our own emotional states.

Earlier paintings looked at the impact on nature from human consumption and resource extraction, particularly the oil industry.

Morild (b.1972) is educated at Central Saint Martin´s College of Art (MA Fine Art 2013) and Chelsea College of Fine Art ( BA Fine Art Painting 2003) and University of Bergen (Cand. Mag. History of literature, History of art, Philosophy of aesthetics, 1998).

Marianne Morild lives and works in Norway. She was Associate Professor of Painting at The Art Academy, University of Bergen 2023-2026.

Her work has been shown amongst others at Sogn og Fjordane Kunstmuseum (N), Kunsthall 3,14 (N), Centre Pompidou-Metz (F) and Taiwan Fine Arts Museum (T), and is held in the collection of Sogn og Fjordane Kunstmuseum, Bergen Council and private collections internationally.
